Like the Last of Us, which as a game I think is bland as shit to play, and I think that is just true, the people who like it mostly like it for the story, and it might be a good story but a survival drama is the least interesting kind of story you can tell to me. I mean when it comes to videogames and storytelling, I tend to not care a tonne because most games will be hamstrung in some manner, and also sometimes I just don't give a shit. There might be reasons for why it turned out how it did but Ken Levine seemed dead set on an atrocious ending that I feel is indefensible. so it kinda undoes the good work of 2 and it's DLC when discussing 'Shock and story. this was followed up in Infinite by one of the worst stories I've ever seen in any piece of fiction ever. Bioshock 2 I think is more engaging than that, but Minerva's Den is the only Bioshock game I think is a total homerun when it comes to story. I know everyone loves Bioshock 1's plot twists and find them to be clever and I am not impressed, not remotely, the plot for me just tanks at that point and it also has a poor final act with a boss fight that is so easy it's embarrassing. I think there's a theme with the Shock games having much stronger concepts than they do plots. Oh, and seriously, backtracking to research rooms that don't have the chemical you need is Such a disappointment.įunny how it could had been objectively better then both Bioshock 1 & 2 if it wasn't for those inconveniences. The ability to be stuck on pieces of debris and geometry progressing is just awful, making you an easy target. And if you don't have enough anti-personal ammo to continually pummel them down, they will smite you in seconds. I find it astounding that people complain about the Xen in Half-Life when it really wasn't bad, to this craptastic confusing maze of the same color where it spams the toughest enemies on you over and over and over again, from the floating aliens that can kill you in several hits to the insta-spawning rumblers in the boss fight. Some of the sections are just really bland and boring to look at. While the design of the levels in the Rick weren't necessarily poor, with intricate pathways, what you would expect from a Military Ship looked nothing like it. I know the last 3rd of the game was rushed for whatever reason, but seriously, the later parts of the Rick and The Many are the biggest let down I have ever seen in a game that was this good beforehand. Glad your enjoying it so far, yes the cyber-modules are scarce at first but as the game progresses you start finding cyber-modules in large quantities as well as earning them by completing objectives.Īnd I must ask, are you playing with the music on or off? ) I am really nervous on spending them on anything, except hacking since that is a skill I heard I needed to complete the game with. One thing that really urks me is that the cyber-modules are kind of hard to come by. It seems there is a lot of strategy involved in upgrading your character. The enemies are spooky despite being low-polygon models, and they always keep me on toes whenever I trigger the alarm. I like how each ship feels like it is actually authentic, and that there are intricate tasks you need to complete before advancing on to new places. I have never played a game like System Shock that takes FPS and rpg-style elements to a whole new level. Alas, I have bought and am playing System Shock 2.
